Getting your home ready to sell!

Hello and welcome to our Blog!

Spring is fast approaching and many people are considering selling their homes.  We get calls frequently from owners asking us to consult with them regarding things that need to be done to prepare their homes for sale.  We thought we would throw out a few of the suggestions today that we offer people to help them begin the process.

Begin with the outside of your home.  Stand on the street and see how it really looks.  Remember, prospective buyers’ first impression of your home is the front exterior view.  Is the landscaping old and overgrown?  Maybe it’s time to replace some of it.  Definitely trim trees and shrubs to look well manicured.  Plant some colorful flowers in beds and in pots at the front door and remember to add some fresh mulch in your beds.  Dark mulch looks the best!

Okay, speaking of the front door!  Take a good look at your door.  So many people don’t pay much attention to their front door.  Does it need a new, fresh coat of paint?  It probably does!  What about the hardware?  There is nothing more uninviting than old, tarnished door hardware!  Yes, really!!!  Replace with something shiny and new.

Check out the windows.  Always have your windows washed before putting your home on the market.  It makes a huge difference from both the outside and the inside.  If you have fogged window panes have them replaced.

This blog gets us started on what to do on the exterior of the house.  Come back again and we’ll discuss getting the inside ready.  Thanks again for visiting today.
